Choosing the right rug size can completely change how a room feels. A rug that is too small can make furniture look disconnected, while a well-proportioned rug helps define the space and brings the room together. This guide explains the sizes currently available across our handmade Moroccan rug collection and how each one can work in different interiors.

MoroccoWoven rug sizes

Our current made-to-order designs are offered in eight standard size options. Metric measurements are the primary dimensions; imperial sizes are convenient approximate equivalents.

  • 60 × 90 cm / 2 × 3 ft: a compact accent size for a bedside area, entryway or small decorative space.
  • 90 × 150 cm / 3 × 5 ft: suitable for small bedrooms, reading corners, entry areas or beside a bed.
  • 120 × 180 cm / 4 × 6 ft: a versatile small-area rug for bedrooms, compact seating areas or home offices.
  • 150 × 210 cm / 5 × 7 ft: works well in smaller living rooms, bedrooms and defined seating areas.
  • 180 × 270 cm / 6 × 9 ft: a strong choice for medium living rooms, larger bedrooms and many dining layouts.
  • 240 × 300 cm / 8 × 10 ft: designed for larger living rooms, generous seating arrangements and dining spaces.
  • 270 × 360 cm / 9 × 12 ft: suitable for large living rooms, open-plan spaces and larger dining tables.
  • 360 × 450 cm / 12 × 15 ft: an oversized format for spacious interiors where the rug should anchor most of the furniture.

Choosing a rug for the living room

Start with the furniture arrangement rather than the empty floor. In a compact room, a rug can sit in front of the sofa and visually connect the seating area. In a larger room, choosing a size that allows the front legs—or more—of the main seating pieces to rest on the rug usually creates a more unified look.

Before ordering, mark the proposed rug dimensions on the floor with painter’s tape. This gives you a realistic sense of scale and helps you compare two sizes before making a decision.

Choosing a rug for the bedroom

A bedroom rug can sit fully or partially beneath the bed, or be used as a smaller accent beside it. For larger beds, a wider rug gives more visible wool around the sides and foot of the bed. For compact rooms, a smaller size beside the bed can add softness without covering too much floor.

Choosing a rug for the dining area

For a dining area, measure the table and then consider the space needed when chairs are pulled away from it. A larger rug generally keeps the chairs on the rug more comfortably and makes the dining zone feel visually complete. Always measure the full furniture footprint rather than the tabletop alone.

How to measure before ordering

  1. Measure the usable floor area in centimetres.
  2. Measure the main furniture arrangement, not only the room walls.
  3. Use tape to outline the rug size directly on the floor.
  4. Check door clearance and nearby furniture.
  5. Compare the outlined size from several viewpoints in the room.
