Azilal rugs come from the Azilal region of Morocco's Middle Atlas. They are among the most colorful Moroccan rugs, with free, abstract designs that feel modern in almost any room.
What makes an Azilal rug different?
Where a Beni Ourain rug is usually ivory with simple dark lines, an Azilal rug is known for color: pinks, oranges, blues, greens and ochre, often set on a cream background. The patterns are loose and expressive rather than strict, so no two rugs look the same.
Feel and pile
Azilal rugs are traditionally woven with a shorter, softer pile than a Beni Ourain. Because our rugs are made to order, you can choose Low, Medium or Plush pile in the design you like.
How to style an Azilal rug
- Use it as the one colorful piece in a neutral room and let the rug lead the color scheme.
- Pick one or two colors from the rug for cushions or a throw.
- Keep the furniture simple so the abstract pattern stands out.
